Everything You Need to Know Before You Arrive
-
U.S. citizens traveling to Cabo by air should bring a valid U.S. passport. Be sure to check current entry requirements before your departure.
-
The Mexican peso is the local currency, although U.S. dollars are accepted at many tourist-oriented businesses. Credit cards are widely accepted, but carrying some pesos is helpful for smaller purchases and tips.
-
Yes! English is widely spoken throughout Cabo’s main tourist areas, including many restaurants, resorts, shops, and tour operators. Learning a few basic Spanish phrases is always appreciated.
-
Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) is approximately 45–60 minutes from Cabo San Lucas by car, depending on traffic and your destination. We recommend booking a private airport transfer in advance or taking an authorized airport taxi for a smooth arrival.
-
Yes! All-inclusive options are available at the resort and may be added at check-in.
-
We recommend booking popular experiences in advance, especially whale watching during the December–April season, sportfishing charters, snorkeling excursions, and ATV tours. You can explore our recommended local activities to start planning your itinerary.
-
Uber is available for getting around Cabo San Lucas and other parts of Los Cabos, although availability and wait times can vary. Lyft is not a dependable option in the area. Please note that Uber pickups are not permitted at the Los Cabos International Airport terminal, so we recommend arranging a private transfer or taking an authorized airport taxi when you arrive. Once you're settled in Cabo, Uber can be a convenient way to get around town.
-
We recommend drinking bottled or purified water rather than tap water. Bottled water is readily available throughout Cabo, including at grocery stores and resorts.
-
Renting a car isn’t necessary for most guests, as taxis, Uber, and private transportation are available throughout Cabo. If you plan to explore nearby towns, beaches, and attractions at your own pace, a rental car can offer added flexibility. For getting around Cabo San Lucas, many visitors find rideshare services and organized excursions are all they need.
-
Bring lightweight clothing, swimsuits, comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat. If you're visiting during the winter months, pack a light jacket for cooler evenings.
-
Yes, tipping is customary in Mexico for restaurant servers, bartenders, housekeeping staff, drivers, and tour guides. Keep some small bills handy for convenient tipping throughout your stay.
-
Los Cabos follows Mountain Time, but daylight-saving time rules differ from those in many U.S. locations. Check the local time before traveling or coordinating airport pickups.
-
Please review your checkout instructions before departure, including the required checkout time, key return procedures, and any requests regarding trash or personal belongings. This helps ensure a smooth departure.
